Shadow and Bone (Season 1) 2021’: TV Review

Typically, I steer clear of Fantasy shows, but I decided to give it a try to test out the 4K and HDR capabilities. Surprisingly, I found myself captivated and couldn't tear myself away from my usual crime dramas. The pacing and non-linear storytelling really appealed to me. Mei Lei's character is delightful and lighthearted, managing to avoid melodrama despite her difficult circumstances. The villains are strangely endearing, thanks to their accents, gaits, and postures. If you're watching in HDR, I recommend adjusting to moderately brighter picture modes to avoid it appearing too dark. I hope the remaining episodes maintain their momentum and that the show receives multiple seasons, as the casting and cinematography truly deserve recognition. Additionally, I hope the fans of the book series don't overly criticize the show, as I was pleasantly surprised and expected negative reviews when I logged in here.
