Bloodhounds (Season 1) 2023’: TV Review
I'm from Canada, and during COVID, we experienced incredibly strict and seemingly unnecessary lockdown measures. Unfortunately, the opening scene of the show focused on enforcing the mask mandate on a bus, which left me feeling disappointed, as it seemed like a repetitive theme. However, towards the end of the first episode, the storyline took a significant turn. It revealed a harsh reality of government intrusion and predatory lenders targeting people's homes and businesses, reflecting the true events of 2023. While it's not an ideal representation of reality, it did capture my attention.
The main character serves as a true role model, displaying both humility and exceptional boxing skills. If you despise government oppression and the exploitation brought on by predatory lenders during the pandemic, this show is definitely worth watching. At the end of the first episode, when a store was destroyed and a major brawl ensued, I couldn't help but wonder, "Where are the police?" It's puzzling how such a chaotic situation can go on for 15 minutes without any law enforcement intervention.
As the story progressed, we discovered that the individuals responsible for the store destruction had left the man our protagonists work for in a wheelchair. Once again, I found myself questioning the absence of police involvement. They vandalized property, caused harm, and yet there were no repercussions. While I understand that the show may not entirely mirror reality, it raises concerns. In the third episode, we witness an attempted murder, arson, and assault without any consequences for the perpetrator, who was just an ordinary person without connections. This disparity between fictional outcomes and real-life consequences makes me appreciate the clarity of rules in North Korea, even though I wouldn't desire to live there. In South Korea, it seems that one can commit crimes, evade punishment, and essentially buy their way out of prison.
